Hello! I don't know you (awkward way to start this :D), but I'm *hopefully* going to be going on an exchange next year with AFS!! Paraguay is one of my choices (my other choice in South America would be Ecuador)... I just wanted any opinions or anything you had about Paraguay. Oh, and one specific question - do you think it would be hard to go to Paraguay with a fall departure? Thanks for your help, and I hope you're having a great time!

hey nathalie!!! soo that is awesome that you will be going with AFS!!! I am totally in love with paraguay so my opion would obviously be for paraguay.... it is really and awesome country!!! I want to come back here for college so obivously i am loving my time here.... I came to paraguay in Feb. 08 and it was the best choice for me becuasei thought alot before i chose when i wanted to leave sept. or feb... and febuary for me is the best because you will be here in the country there whole school year because there school year starts in feb and goes til nov. so you will be in the same school the whole year and make friends and won´t have to enter into 2 differnte school years... DO YOU UNDERSTAND!=!=!=

the culture here is soooo differnete but amazing.. and close and loving... i really recommend here... WOW... it is so exciting to here the process....

really the year goes so fastly!!!! i cant believe i am going to be in the usa again in a little over month!!!! if you have questions just ask!!!

suerte
besos!

Hey! Thank you so much for responding so quickly!!
I understand what you mean about school... that's why I'm worried. At my school, I take a lot of AP Classes which are 3 quarters each... so if I went starting in winter/spring, then that would be 2 years I couldn't take any AP Classes... How long is their summer break? Oh, also, what are their schools like? Once you understood Spanish, were you able to actually learn things in the classes? And one last question (sorry for the question overload!!) - how is AFS in Paraguay? Are they helpful and supportive and stuff?
Thanks again for responding!! I'm pretty sure Paraguay is my #1 choice :)

Heyyyy....
hahaha i understand about all the nerves in school in the usa and then here are the grades gonna transfer what about AP classes.... DON´T worrie about it you have to think yes AP classes are great and that but A YEAR in a differnt country i think stands out MORE on a college applicacion.... don´t you!?!?! i didn´t know ANYTHING in spanish before i came.... i understood everything pretty much at 2 and a half months... and started talk really well at three.. it isn´t a vacaciones in your trip you always have to try.... and the paraguayan people are soooo amazing that they want to help you learn so don´t worry... and i did learn things from the schools here... be prepared to hand copy everything.. and to do presentaciones ORAL and have to memorize your part.... you will learn things here and the teachers will be great and help you as much as they can.... school is amazing because thats what helps you learn your spanish because you are with kids your age everyday just listening.... it is a process but don´t worry it is one AMAZING process.... i am so in love with paraguay it looks like i am coming back here for college....

and AFS parguay is pretty helpful.. if your lucky you will have an amazing councler like i have....

don´t worry everything will be GREAT... i am soooo excited that paraguay is your number one pick.. it is an amazing country... i love it and the people

if you have any more quuestions don´t be afraid to ask.... and i have facebook and myspace and orkut and MSN messenger Number1trifan@msn.com let me know about anything
